Summer 1991
Two Atlanta community
leaders conceive the idea of a transdenominational Jewish community high school
while touring Israel as participants in the Wexner Heritage Foundation's
leadership development program.
July
1995
New Atlanta Jewish Community High School (NAJCHS) is formally
incorporated and forms its first Board of Directors.
Summer 1996
Richard Hanson is appointed
Head of School and Simcha Pearl joins the School as Principal.
Summer 1997
The first Board of Trustees is
elected. Classes begin with 19 students in the Atlanta Jewish Community Center.
August 1997
The School
holds dedication ceremonies attended by individuals representing all segments of
the Atlanta Jewish community. Classes begin in the Atlanta Jewish Community
Center and soon move to modular units at Zaban Park.
August 1998
The incoming class more than
doubles the School's size to over fifty students.
August 1999
Enrollment continues
to expand by fifty percent to seventy-six students.
December 1999
NAJCHS is accredited by the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools more quickly than any
other school in SACS history.
June
2000
First graduation ceremonies honor our five graduates in
the presence of over six hundred spectators.
July 2000
Simcha Pearl is promoted to
Head of School. Nanci Pearson joins NAJCHS as Academic Dean.
August 2000
Enrollment
expands by twenty percent to ninety-two students.
June
2001
Graduation ceremonies recognize the first class to
have attended NAJCHS for all four years.
July
2002
Nanci Pearson is promoted to Principal.
June
2002
Twenty- five students graduate as the third senior
class.
August 2002
NAJCHS
enrollment of one hundred and sixteen students approaches the capacity
of the School's temporary space.
March
2003
Almost six hundred people attend the Inaugural Evening
of Honor, recognizing community leader Gerald Cohen.
May 2003
Graduation ceremonies are held
for twenty-eight students, the largest class to date.
June 2003
Incoming students increase the
School's enrollment to one hundred and twenty.
September 2003
NAJCHS is renamed The
Weber School in honor of Doris and Alex Weber, parents of Felicia and
Joe Weber.
September 2006
The Weber
School's new building dedication.
