Tik
Tik is an abbreviation of "Tikkun Olam," generally translated as "Repairing the World." It's the name for our community service program, and The Weber
School takes seriously our
commitment to correcting imperfections in our world. In order to
translate this doctrine into action, all students serve a minimum of 15 contact hours of
community service per year for a total of 60 Tik hours before graduation.
Through our student life department, we publicize numerous Tik opportunities for individuals or groups of people to participate in throughout the year. We also spend one day in the Spring as a whole school, including faculty and staff, offering a hand at various agencies around Atlanta.
Tik Club
Our student-run Tik Club organizes volunteer opportunities
for students who want to commit their time and energy to performing acts of chesed, lovingkindness. The Tik Club
promotes student participation in community volunteer events, as well as
ongoing community service projects. Each month, the club focuses on a specific theme,
such as homelessness or environmentalism, and creates educational materials,
invites speakers, collects and allocates tzedakah funds, and organizes related
volunteer opportunities. The Tik Club aims to empower students by providing
them with opportunities to commit themselves to healing our community and our
world.
