MESSAGE FROM RABBI ED HARWITZ, HEAD OF SCHOOL 

In the Talmud, our Rabbis charge us to display our Hanukkah lights publicly in an effort to "pirsumah de'nisah" and actively promote and celebrate the miracles of Hanukkah. In that spirit, Hanukkah causes me every year to appreciate the miracles that I experience in my life –- none more prominent and meaningful than those in our own Weber School community:

• Students with a love for learning, who aspire each day towards menschlekite and building a community of care and friendship;
• An exceptional faculty and staff whose skill and dedication to their teaching and educational disciplines is only exceeded by their passion and love for their students;
• Parents and Grandparents, supported by our Board and parent lay leadership, who express their love and dedication to their children through an investment in a Jewish high school education, and who work as wonderful partners with Weber professionals.

Hag Urim Sameach -- best wishes for a Happy Hanukkah filled with light and a holiday season filled with joy and peace.

Students in "Things That Go Bump In The Night," an interdisciplinary Jewish Studies and Art course co-taught by Rabbi Moshe Sokol and Artist-in-Residence Cheryl Myrbo, recently studied witches and sorcery in Rabbinic literature, comparing them to the witch trials in England and Salem and witch "hunts" such as McCarthyism.

Due to limitations of the pandemic regarding the pottery studio, students created their "witches" using polymer, a substitute for clay that can be manipulated at home and baked in a home oven.

Kol Hakavod to our student artists: Emily Berman, Anna Bauman, Molly Fisher, Harris Jacobs, Zachary Kurtz, Andrew Levingston, Ilana Levenberg, Hope Lindner, Alexa Mittleman, Cece Robison, Jason Sherman, Connor Voynich, and Hailey Weiss. The student's final pieces are on display on the second floor.

In Commemoration of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Am Yisrael Chai presents a powerful and unforgettable event, Miracles and Memories, on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Please join us as Holocaust survivor Stephen Jacobs recounts his story as a survivor of Buchenwald concentration camp and designer of Holocaust memorials at Buchenwald and Tirana, Albania, where 2,000 Jews were saved.
