Women of Weber

Teens today face many pressures around schoolwork, friendship groups, social media, and expectations from parents and society. A recent Pew Research Center study found that seven in ten teens see anxiety and depression as major problems among their peers (Horowitz and Graf 2019).

Studies found that Jewish girls, in particular, “grapple with an ever-increasing pressure to be perfect, to exceed already impossibly high expectations, and anxieties stemming from a drive to excel in all areas of life while still attending to their personal needs and the needs of others around them. They live with the daily feeling that they must 'do it all' and that failure to do so will result in irrevocable damage to their futures (JWFA Community Study).”
Please join us for an interactive workshop on November 16th from 12-1 pm to:

  • understand how social media, body image, and pressure to achieve contribute to the cycle of perfectionism and anxiety, and
  • how you as a parent can help your pre-teen/teen build resilience into adolescence and adulthood by noticing, naming, and modeling a different approach.

Facilitators: Rebecca Brown, Jamie Stepansky, and Cari Newman
