ABIPE 2024: Post 1

Welcome to Warsaw! We all got our room keys and had a little time to freshen up, and now we are in a beautiful common space in the hotel for our orientation. Tonight, we are meeting Ruth and Ofri, our madrichot from Israel. It’s so terrific to have them here with us. Ruth is 23 and just finished her service in the Army about a year ago, and she knows The Weber School from our time in Israel last year. Ofri is also 23, and she, too, knows Weber from last year’s trip — and she has also helped lead other Jewish student groups in Poland as well. Our Taube staff is with us - four incredible Jewish educators with a wealth of knowledge to share (Moshe has a great British accent - and I’m sure I’ll be able to share more details about each leader as we get to know them better). We are in very, very good hands with these amazing guides. And now, on to what we all have been doing waiting for: dinner! And let me say: it was delicious, truly. Fantastic salad with very fresh vegetables, and I especially loved the beet and goat cheese salad and pickled carrots on the side; perfectly cooked salmon and vegetables; my first pierogi in Poland (the first, I hope, of many); and an apple cake that I didn't get a picture of - but trust me, it was good. Dr. Rothstein all advised us on the best time to go to sleep to minimize jet lag, and she's the expert, so, from here in Poland on what I'll call Day Zero...good night.
