The 2025–2026 school year kicked off with lots of cheering and laughing as the entire school gathered for our “Back to Weber” Kehillah in the Eitan Force Athletic Complex.
The celebration began with a high-energy entrance from the senior class, introduced by 11th and 12th Grade Dean Carrie Runnels. The Class of 2026 turned the gym into a dance floor, filling the space with the kind of noise only seniors can bring as they launched their final year at Weber.
Weber’s Student Council was introduced to the school with some fun
Carpool Karaoke, and our full faculty and staff were welcomed with enthusiastic applause for the guidance, creativity, and care they bring to our school community.
Student Council President Jillian Smith offered a thoughtful charge to her peers, inviting each grade to set intentions for the new school year. She encouraged students to branch out, try new things, and make the most of every opportunity, reminding us that the best growth sometimes happens just outside our comfort zones.
Head of School Rabbi Ed Harwitz shared reflections from a trip to Israel over the summer and spoke about the enduring message of Shir Baboker Baboker, a beloved song by Israeli artist Shlomo Artzi. Drawing from the song’s themes of waking up with purpose and greeting others with “Shalom,” he reminded students that Weber’s strength lies in the relationships we build.
“We are at our best when we come together, in community,” he said. “And that idea is firmly rooted in the fabric of The Weber School.”
To close, as we begin our milestone 30th year, Rabbi Harwitz invited students to think about the kind of community we want to build: one grounded in partnership and belonging:
“A value of community where each student, in partnership with their teachers, ensures that everyone has a place, and no one is left behind.”
Together, we step into 2025–2026 with open arms, open hearts, and a shared commitment to a year of learning, leadership, and growth.
