Weber’s Peer Leaders gathered for the first session of the year, led by Rosie Grinzaid, Associate Director of Student Social and Emotional Support. The session introduced the “Portrait of a Peer Leader,” which highlights seven core pillars that guide the program: cultivating positive and trusting relationships, prioritizing health and wellness, taking responsibility for academic progress, treating faculty and peers with respect, establishing healthy boundaries, demonstrating dedication to extracurricular commitments, and investing in the Weber community.
Friday’s discussion focused on the first pillar, “A peer leader cultivates positive and trusting relationships.” Ms. Grinzaid guided the group through a process where students developed their own questions about what trust looks like, how to build it, and how to support others while maintaining healthy boundaries. This session marked the beginning of a yearlong journey where students will explore all seven pillars while developing their leadership skills and strengthening connections with new students.
Peer Leadership at Weber is built on the belief that students thrive when they support one another. Peer Leaders are chosen for their kindness, leadership, and passion for helping others, and they play a vital role in ensuring every new student feels welcomed from day one.
