Shabbaton 2023!

Last weekend, the Weber community gathered for its much-anticipated annual event: Shabbaton. Over 270 students and faculty members ventured to Camp Ramah Darom, participating in a weekend filled with spiritual, artistic, and athletic activities. The joyful Shabbat experience fostered love, laughter, and friendships as students and faculty actively engaged with each other in an unplugged environment, free from the demands of everyday life.

This year, the Shabbaton saw some exciting new additions, including the involvement of Weber senior and Shabbaton co-captain Lilly Levy, who played a crucial role in organizing logistics for the event. Lilly's leadership and dedication ensured a smooth and memorable experience for all participants.
Two notable Weber alumni also attended. Rosie Grinzaid (Class of 2010), Associate Director of Student Social and Emotional Support, was available to offer her guidance and support to students throughout the weekend. Her husband, Dr. Ben Grinzaid, another proud Weber alum from the Class of 2011, served as the on-site doctor, ensuring the health and well-being of all attendees.
Shabbaton programming continued to shine with various activities, such as the cherished “Divrei Senior.” During this event, students gathered after meals to listen to words of advice and encouragement from graduating seniors. The spirited basketball tournament was another highlight, brimming with ruach (spirit) and friendly trash-talking. And, of course, “The Word” talent show returned, featuring an array of talented student and faculty performers.
The 2023 Shabbaton exemplified Weber's vibrant school community, as grade-level distinctions were set aside and students and faculty connected outside the classroom. The involvement of alums, a dedicated student co-captain, and an array of activities made this year's Shabbaton a great one and remains one of Weber's most beloved and enduring traditions.
