Yom HaShoah Commemoration
This week, The Weber School came together to commemorate Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), a solemn day dedicated to honoring the memories of the six million Jewish men, women, and children who perished in the Holocaust.
During a special school-wide Kehillah assembly, our 2024-2025 Student Council, joined by other students, led the Yom HaShoah Commemoration Ceremony. The assembly featured a commemorative candle lighting, a special music performance, and a time for solemn reflection. Students also shared the powerful story of Abe Besser, a Holocaust survivor whose legacy continues to inspire the Weber community.
Students from Hebrew teacher Keren Ben-Haim's class participated in the global Unto Every Person There Is a Name initiative, a program by Yad Vashem, to remember Holocaust victims as individuals by reading aloud their names. Reading aloud the victims' names helped students recognize each individual and remember them for who they were, ensuring their stories continue to be acknowledged and honored.
Weber continues its commitment to commemorating these significant holidays with meaningful programs that honor the memory of those we have lost while providing opportunities for students and parents to reflect on the lessons of history.

The Weber School, a Jewish Community high school serving students from all Jewish backgrounds, prepares students for success in college and in life with comprehensive academic and co-curricular programs that inspire student exploration, leadership, and Jewish social consciousness.
