Historic Baseball Season

The Rams Baseball team had an incredible season, marking a milestone in the program's history. The team's thrilling journey through the GHSA State Tournament featured several unforgettable moments, including their first qualification since joining GHSA in 2016. After securing their spot in the playoffs with a nail-biting comeback against Mt. Pisgah, the Rams made an inspiring run that saw them advance to the Elite 8.

In the tournament's opening round against Darlington, a decisive performance in game 3, led by Sam Rosenthal's clutch 3-run double and strong pitching, helped the Rams clinch a crucial win. Their victory ensured the team's spot in the Sweet 16 for the first time.

After winning Game 2 against Darlington, the Rams gathered in their hotel conference room to lead a meaningful Passover Seder, bringing their values and spirit into the postseason. Head of School Rabbi Ed Harwitz expressed immense pride in their ability to balance athletic achievement with community values: "Mazal Tov to our Baseball team of The Weber School Athletics program for making history, winning in our first trip ever to baseball playoffs while showing how student-athletes can lead and celebrate a Seder, in community with their parents and coaches. A proud moment for The Weber School in so many ways!"

During the Sweet 16 match-up against Jasper County, the Rams dominated the field with an 18-run scoring barrage that included several homers. The second game was no less thrilling, with solid pitching and outstanding defense securing an 8-6 win and a place in the Elite 8.

The team's postseason ended in a heartbreaker after losing in Game 3 against Crawford County, narrowly missing a Final 4 appearance. Despite the outcome, the Rams' historic playoff run, led by Head Coach Alan NeSmith, Assistant Coaches Brandon NeSmith-Hicks and Cole Noeller, and Faculty Coach Anthony Baker, will be remembered for their grit, determination, and unprecedented achievement.

The dedication and hard work of the Rams Baseball team were recognized, with several players named to the 1A-D1 Region 6 All-Region Team:

Joshua Greenspon: 1st Team Catcher
Elan Lieberman: 1st Team Outfielder
Isaac Brody: 1st Team Pitcher
Josh Wolkin: 2nd Team Pitcher
Sam Rosenthal: Honorable Mention Infielder
